A small parting gift; until next time. THE SONG- First off, Pain of Salvation has to be one of my most favorite musical groups of all time. It is impossible to say that without recognizing how at least 90% of their personality is writer and lead singer Daniel Gildenlöw. I could go on and on and on about how much I love his compositional output, his singing, and how much that all has influenced me but... Well, I discovered the group when my brother showed me their first album, Entropia (1997), sometime around 2005. In short, it blew my mind. I mean, I had listened to exclusively metal for the last 5-6 years and I had heard a fair share of prog, but something about this was different. It wasn't just the intricacies of the writing; something about the emotion of every track spoke to me. I definitely valued that, because that was the point in my awkward hormonal teenage years where I had a hard time feeling anything about anything. I must've listened to that album atleast 5 times a week for a year or so; funny thing is, when I went on to listen to their later works, I hated em! It spoke to both my stubborn taste as a dumb teenaged metalhead type, and to the incredible variety Pain of Salvation has across and within records. At this point though, I contend that BE is a masterpiece and Iter Impius is still one of my favorite ballads EVER!!! Regardless of how you felt of my performance, you should really check out the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUNJoa3FFao MY STORY- Yes, it is again that time of the year where thousands of college/highschool age kids say farewell to their friends/family and depart from their homes to a summer of band. I could make it sound totally cool, and it kinda is, but yeah, I'm gonna go do Summer Marching Band aka Drum Corps. If you don't know what that is, go look it up because that's a much more effective way of conveying the general experience than my explanation would be. Basically, I'll be on the road for the next 3 months, and as such, there won't be any output from me to speak of! I posted that vlog like a week ago as a joke, but I figured I'd have something a little nicer as a send off to you guys. Erm, as I've been rather busy with finales and such (among other things), this was thrown together a bit last minute. HOWEVER, I MAKE NO APOLOGIES; I AIN'T A SUCKA Again, I'd really like to thank the people who've been keeping up with me and who have occasionally dropped in to put in a nice word or two. If I was forced to make music in a closet without any outside input I'd probably just give up. THE LOVE KEEPS ME GOING; THAT VITAMIN L, BABY!!!! ps you should totes holla at me on like Twitter: @StewardofBeef or Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KennethSithan or even on the youtube! I'll be checkin! Keep an eye out in the future; as always, I've got biiig shit planned.
