Something a little different to start off the new year. This is my first attempt at chill music, focusing less on orchestration or intricate themes and more on establishing a mood. It was a good excuse to try out using synths (something I've neglected for a long time) and a neotonal chord progression (which are actually quite fun). You won't find intricate roles for dozens of instruments here. Instead you'll hear an evolving landscape with multiple roles that, however simple that may be, all contribute to one overarching purpose. The intended way to listen to this is different than what I usually make. Here, it's not meant to feature in a concert setting but rather to play in the background as you read, listen to a looped recording of rain, or anything else that sets your mind at ease. "I am Still" was made specifically for SterFler's image that you see above. Many thanks to her for letting me use it for cover art. http://sterfler.tumblr.com Maybe this song is too different and no one will like it, but it's an interesting genre that's more complex than I first believed, and it's always good to experiment.
