ABOUT: "Interim," WoO. 3 is a short suite of four pieces that I composed during the time in between moving into a new apartment and beginning my graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music, hence "interim." This is a wacky and care-free collection of music that I do not consider to be a serious work, so I categorized it without an opus number (WoO).

ABOUT THE COMPOSER:

Building worlds through his music, Ethan Toavs is a contemporary concert and media composer. He often fuses modern cinematic styles with traditional classical conventions and influences from other musical cultures. Most of his music is inspired by themes of nature and childhood.

Ethan's current projects include his "Mare Nostrum" and "The Chronicles of an Odyssey" suites of fantasy music for symphony orchestra and Chinese orchestra. These will be released on Ethan's YouTube channel later this year and early next year respectively. Ethan's recent projects can be found on the Discography tab of his website.

Ethan Toavs is also a pianist, singer, and concert and electric bassist. He is currently enrolled in the Contemporary Media and Film Composition program at the world-famed Eastman School of Music, where he studies with professors Mark Watters and Dave Rivello. Ethan received his B.A. from Coastal Carolina University, where he studied classical composition with Dr. Donald Sloan and piano performance with Dr. Philip Powell.

Ethan Toavs loves the color pink, dogs, macaroni and cheese, Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, kid’s movies, "My Little Pony," and a nice, brisk walk in the morning’s breeze.
