Greetings, In this addition, I briefly discuss why it's important to support our friends with the full truth, even at the sacrifice of their feelings. Contrary to popular belief, there is no such thing as a white lie. Anything you say will effect those around you and quite possibly come back to you in the future. If there are untruths and inconsistencies, than whatever you were building is not going to have a sturdy foundation and will crumble. I've found that as a society, we tend to do this a lot more than we realize. Then we cover it with the excuse of "politeness." This ranges in all sorts of things starting from small - like the time I was hosting a party and everyone was hot in my house but everyone was "too polite" to let me know so that I might turn on the air conditioning. Or the time my older sister went the whole day with a large tear in her pants. These are both things that could have been very easily fixed before they became problems. If people hadn't been so concerned about being "polite", I wouldn't have been made to look like an inconsiderate host and my sister wouldn't have gone a whole day with a tear in her pants. Or perhaps a larger example is when we lie to people about how we feel towards them. The worst of which I've seen both with myself and with others, is when we tell people we love them or will support them through hardship. To those who do this - you may be sparing our feelings now. But when you're needed and that support is taken away, it can very possibly do irreversible damage.
