The Portal franchise is one of my favorite video game series of all time, and GLaDOS herself was one of my biggest inspirations for getting into vocal sound design. So, I thought it'd be cool to do an effect test to pay tribute to an awesome character. It's a tough voice to make, but I'm getting better at it. For starters, I'm not Ellen McLain (or even a professional voice actor, or female). I don't know what mic or room she was recorded with. Further, my vocal required a LOT more processing than hers did to get it to sound like GLaDOS, which inevitably degraded the quality of the audio. That and GLaDOS was mastered by professional audio engineers, and I'm just an amateur. What software did you use? FL studio and NewTone (Melodyne works as well). Will you be doing a tutorial on this voice? Most definitely. This was one of the first tutorials I was planning on making. Portal is property of Valve.
