Star Swirl the Bearded, one of the most discussed and mentioned unicorns in the show, and one who has yet to make an actual appearance. Star Swirl made his first official appearance in "Three's a Crowd" on a poster, and made his first in character appearance in issue #17 in the comics. Fan theories are abound with Star Swirl, and several people, myself included, have come up with possible voices for what he may sound like. The three voices in the video are inspired by 2 of those theories, and the final one is based on his official appearance in the comics. 1. Gandalf the Grey One theory for Star Swirl is that he was a Gandalf-esque sage, one of the most magically gifted unicorns in history. A dignified character who possibly wielded an element of harmony before Celestia and Luna (the season 4 premiere possibly contradicts that though.) Most people view this interpretation of Star Swirl as having a deep, and powerful voice. Possible voices are Corey Burton, or Ian Mckellan, whose performance as Gandalf this voice is based on. 2. "Discorded" Star Swirl Inspired by the popular theory that Discord is Star Swirl the Bearded, this theory is the most discussed. This version of Star Swirl is a character who was obsessed with magic, and pushed it beyond it's natural limits. As a result, the dark chaotic magic warped his body into Discord. This voice I just used a slightly deeper version of my Discord impression. The only possible voice for this version would John de Lancie once again. The "canon" Star Swirl This voice is based on Star Swirl's recent canon appearence is the official comics. According to Luna, Star Swirl was similiar to Pinkie Pie in personality. In terms of fan theories, Star Swirl seems to be a healthy mix of the first two. One who is kind, and sage like, but isn't afraid to make a boast or two about his abilities and make magical advancements. As a result, I attempted to mix the two voices, as well as old a "grand pappy" spin to it. This video was inspired by timeyodies, "What does King Sombra actually sound like?" I own nothing except my own voice. MLP is property of Hasbro, and the video is for entertainment purposes only.
